Fit also depends on body shape: the coat should allow comfortable movement without rubbing or restricting breathing. If the back and chest measurements suggest different sizes, ask us for fitting help rather than automatically sizing up.

Care Guidelines

Machine washable at 30°C, following the garment care label. Air dry naturally. Do not tumble dry or place near direct heat sources. Allow the coat to dry fully before storage and check the fabric, straps and fastenings regularly.

Safety & Suitability

This is a coat, not a harness or restraint. Attach the lead only to a correctly fitted collar or harness, never to the coat itself. Check that the harness slot aligns with the attachment point without pulling the coat out of position. Ensure leg straps do not rub or restrict movement. Supervise wear and remove the coat if your dog becomes too warm, uncomfortable or restricted; a lightweight coat can still contribute to overheating. Reflective trim does not replace appropriate lighting and supervision. Check your dog during prolonged rain and remove the coat if the inside becomes wet. Stop using if damaged.

FAQs

Is this a warm winter coat?

It is a lightweight softshell coat intended for milder wet weather, rather than a fleece-lined winter coat. Suitability depends on the individual dog, temperature and activity level.

Is the coat waterproof?

The original Ancol product information describes a waterproof shell. No waterproof rating or confirmation of sealed seams is provided here, so do not assume complete protection during prolonged or heavy rain.

Can my dog wear a harness underneath?

Yes, provided the harness fits comfortably beneath the coat and its attachment point aligns with the harness slot. Compatibility depends on the harness design.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure back length and chest girth, then compare both with the Ancol Stormguard sizing guide. Seven sizes are available from XS to XXL, including Small/Medium.

Does the coat have leg straps?

Yes. Elasticated leg straps help keep the back of the coat in position. Check that they do not rub or restrict movement.

How should I wash it?

Machine wash at 30°C following the garment care label, then air dry naturally.
