Frequently Asked Questions
How long will a pigs ear last?
Chew duration varies by dog. Light to moderate chewers typically enjoy 30-90 minutes of chewing time. The softer cartilage texture means they are consumed faster than harder chews, but this makes them perfect for puppies and senior dogs. Power chewers may finish faster. Always supervise and remove small pieces to prevent choking.
Are pigs ears suitable for puppies and senior dogs?
Yes! Pigs ears are specifically ideal for puppies from 4 months old and senior dogs because of their softer cartilage texture. They are easy to chew compared to harder chews, making them gentle on developing puppy teeth and aging senior teeth. The natural glucosamine and chondroitin support joint development in puppies and joint maintenance in seniors.
Will these help clean my dog teeth?
Absolutely! The natural chewing action helps scrape away plaque and tartar buildup naturally. Regular chewing can support dental health, freshen breath, and reduce the need for professional cleanings. The softer texture is still effective for dental care while being gentle on teeth.
How do pigs ears support joint health?
Pigs ears are naturally rich in glucosamine and chondroitin from the cartilage. These essential nutrients support healthy joints, cartilage, and connective tissue. Regular feeding can help maintain joint mobility and flexibility, particularly beneficial for growing puppies building strong joints and senior dogs maintaining mobility.
Are pigs ears suitable for all dog sizes?
Yes! Pigs ears are suitable for dogs of all sizes from small to large. For very small dogs under 5kg, supervise closely and consider breaking the ear in half. The softer texture makes them accessible for dogs of all ages and sizes. Always ensure the chew is appropriate for your dog size and chewing style.
